Joe Italiano's Maplewood Inside the Moorestown MallPhiladelphia, PA - I am often asked what my favorite cuisine is and I always say “Italian,” so I was beyond excited to attend a media tasting at the new Joe Italiano’s Maplewood which has been family owned since 1945 and conveniently located inside the Moorestown Mall.

fireIf you don't live close to the Mall, you can visit one of their other locations in either Hammonton Nj or Mays Landing Nj; there is a very comfortable feel about this family-owned gem. It's almost like you are sitting at the family table, the service was exceptional, and the food was so good that you feel like your Grandmom was working in the kitchen.

So, let’s get into the details, I told the owner that several times on "Dining on A Dime" show which I host on Indie Philly Radio Mon thru Fri at 11 am. I often mentioned that most places claim to serve homemade meatballs but do not serve homemade meatballs and if the menu says "Home Style" it usually means they may have come from a box.

However, the homemade meatballs at Joe Italiano's Maplewood are hand rolled and made in-house, you can taste it, along with the homemade sauce. I loved every dish they served, but the stand out for me was the delicious meatballs and the Chicken Parmesan.

I have often mentioned in my book "Table For One" at Barnes and Noble and in my Tripadvisor blog that I also place much value in a restaurant based on the caliber of their bread put on the table. If the bread is excellent and high quality, it usually means that they're paying close attention to the quality of food coming out of the kitchen. From my experience based upon the places that I’ve visited, if the bread is not fresh, it usually goes hand to hand with sub-par food. That said, the bread at Joe Italiano's Maplewood is so fresh that it could be some of the absolute best bread I've had.

What I loved about Maplewood's the most was family-owned vibe here, and the food exceeded my highest expectations, that I will be returning for is the delicious chicken parmesan in their amazing, homemade sauce/gravy again, I also loved dunking their wonderful bread into their incredible, homemade sauce. I suggest that you try Joe Italiano's Maplewood out for yourself, especially if you are an Italian food lover as I am, it's well worth the trip, I know because I travel for meatball and chicken parmesan, so I plan to return soon.
