PhillyBite Bourbon Bash PhillyPhiladelphia, PA - The 4th Annual Bourbon Bash was held just inside the Loews Philadelphia Hotel Tuesday night at Bank & Bourbon to support DonorsChoose.org.

www.DonorsChoose.org Bourban and Bank Short Rib StationBourban and Bank Short Rib Station is a wonderful charity that helps teachers all over the U.S. provide their students with much-needed tools and supplies. From printers to pencils, Ipads to ink. The student’s heartfelt testimonials will truly affect you at an emotional level.

To the Loews Hotel Philadelphia I say. “May the good you do come back to you.”Chef Thomas Harkins creations were so good they were to die for. Strike that. So good they are to live for.

Let’s start with the exquisite fish dishes that were presented. The whole roasted rockfish topped with salsa Verde and the verlasso salmon drizzled with black truffle vinaigrette.

These two mouthwatering wonders from the water will tantalize and impress. Tender and flakey and oh so succulent. For a bit more earthy choice there was both the short rib beef pastrami with its horseradish cream, pickled mustard seeds and apple along with an excellent dry aged cowboy steak with Kennet square mushrooms.

With the perfect seasoning these tender choices will warm the taste buds and relax the senses. A must have on theses brisk spring nights. Another wonderful choice was the duroc pork chop along with asparagus; sugar snap peas, and English peas. The absolute perfect pairing plays so well with its crisp, bright snap of the firmly, brilliant peas to warm, smoky thickly sliced pork. Sensational is an understatement.

On a lighter side was a truly decadent Ahi Tuna Crudo with its lemon crème fresh, pickled jalapeño, and a bit of crispy quinoa for just the right bit of crunch atop a soft, flavorful tuna. With the warmer weather around the corner, this may be your dish of choice.

Speaking of choice.... donorschoice.org was what this enlightening event was about. Giving teachers and students in the local area the supplies they need to help make a brighter future for those to inherit this constantly advancing world.

I’d be remiss to fail to me the absolute genius of the wonderful Pastry Chef Amanda Kaewvichien.

Trying one of every desert is probably not a great idea for your diet but when the presentation looks like this you truly do not have a choice. Bringing such tempting treats to the table let’s mention a few of these wonderful confections.

The chocolate mocha cake. This lightly La calombe powdered slice of dazzling, sweet cake will leave you speechless. That is of course because you can’t talk with your mouth full. The bourbon glazed donut with pecans. If the name doesn’t make you want to try one, you are simply not alive. And my last and favorite was the Goat cheese cheesecake. So rich, so creamy, so ...let’s say emotional that it was a heavenly experience.

Come support those who are helping so many others. Enjoy all that the Loews Philadelphia Hotel has to offer and the tastes that Bank & Bourbon will deliver.

Hats off to them. “May the good you do come back to you.”
