Philadelphia, PAPhillyBite Feastival - FEASTIVAL, Philadelphia’s most anticipated culinary and arts event, is thrilled to announce a new concept for 2018, designed to celebrate Philadelphia’s dynamic and diverse culinary and cultural landscape. On Thursday, September 27, 2018, 60 of the city’s top chefs will collaborate in pairs to create exclusive, one-night-only dishes representative of one of five iconic culinary Philadelphia neighborhoods.

“Every year, the chef community has rallied around FEASTIVAL in support of FringeArts in a way that’s really remarkable,” stated FEASTIVAL co-host Michael Solomonov, “For the 9th year, my co-host, Nick Elmi, and I wanted to push the creative envelope even further by challenging chefs to collaborate outside of their category and cuisine of expertise, to cook with their peers, to dream up something truly collaborative, and to use this as an opportunity to give guests an experience they won’t find anywhere else in Philly."

The event will spotlight Philadelphia’s eclectic neighborhoods and the cuisines largely associated with them, including West Philadelphia for a profile of Caribbean, Indian, and African cuisines; South Philly to highlight Italian, Cambodian, Vietnamese, and Mexican heritage; Chinatown for a range of Asian dishes; Kensington and Fishtown for an emphasis on Polish and Irish cuisine; and lastly Northeast Philadelphia to shine a light on Russian, Jewish, and German fare. Chefs will be assigned a teammate and a neighborhood of focus and will partner to create a dish representative of that area and its respective cuisines. Pairings will be designed to encourage chefs to work outside of their cuisine of focus and with peers they traditionally haven’t partnered with or worked alongside.

“Attendees will get to see these neighborhoods come to life in an experiential way throughout the entire event,” said FEASTIVAL co-host Nick Elmi. “In honor of FringeArts’ dedication to performance art, we are ecstatic to incorporate live cooking elements that will bring the tastings to life in a memorable way.”

FEASTIVAL proudly benefits one of the most iconic nonprofit arts organizations in the world, FringeArts. Now in its ninth year, this not-to-be-missed event combines a multi-sensory experience offering guests the chance to enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of the industry’s brightest talents.

FEASTIVAL takes place on Thursday, September 27 from 7:00p.m.—10:00p.m. at 140 North Columbus Boulevard (at Race Street), Philadelphia, PA 19106. General admission tickets will be available for $300, with doors opening at 7:00p.m. This year’s VIP tickets will be available for sale at $450, allowing guests to enjoy the festivities one hour before the general admission entry.
