PhillyBite10Philadelphia, PA - Burgers are the perfect backyard BBQ item for your hungry guests. But how do you make your burgers stand out above the plain old burger and cheese, listed below are four great suggestions for for your next party or event.

Philly  Pepper Jack Banana Pepper Burgers
  • 1 lb. ground hamburger meat
  • 1/3 cup diced banana peppers
  • 1/3 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Combine all, form patties and grill
The tangy zest of the banana peppers goes great with the pepper jack cheese!

Philly One Pound Ground Hamburger
  • 1/3 cup blue cheese
  • 4 slices cooked bacon


Make eight hamburger patties all the same size, flatten them very thin.
Cut each piece of bacon to lay in the center of four of the patties. top with crumbled blue cheese. Top with a plain hamburger patty and seal the top and bottom patties together. Grill as usual.

Philly Mushroom Swiss Burger
  • 1 lb. hamburger meat
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese


Do the same as you did above, but the mushrooms and Swiss cooked inside of the meat are incredibly different than the burger that is topped with the same items, the flavor is much better.

Philly Salmon Burgers
  • 1 can of drained salmon (skin and bone removed if desired)
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/2 cup of bread crumbs, cornflakes crumbs or your favorite crushed chips
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 diced sweet pickle
  • Sliced cheddar cheese

Mix all of the ingredients together and form into patties of your desired size. Keep in mind, a hamburger contains fat and will shrink. A salmon patty does not shrink up as a hamburger does so the size of the patty prior to cooking will remain the same.



Make mini burgers and serve them on brown and serve rolls, experiment with different BBQ sauces, use a package of powdered Italian or ranch dressing mix, serve burgers on grilled french bread, try ground turkey, cook your burgers to medium rare, dip them in butter milk, roll in seasoned bread crumbs and bake them to your perfection.
