Manayunk, PA - Manayunk recently welcomed a brand new fusion restaurant to their neighborhood, The Spicy Belly (located at 3847 Terrace Street Philadelphia PA 19128).
This fusion concept was created by Jason Mills (owner). Jason's brother, James Mills, is the Chef. Both grew up in a household with two cultures, Korean and Jamaican. Growing up eating both cuisines, the idea of the Jamaican-Korean fusion came naturally to them.
I had the opportunity to dine at The Spicy Belly and preview their menu. A few Philly influencers came along for the tasting, Bruce Loatman (Philly & NY Photographer), LeAnne Lindsey (Philly Blogger) and Natalie Orensky (Philly Foodie). This establishment features dishes that still have a traditional feel, yet Chef James has put his own special twist on them. You can find bulgogi lettuce wraps, ginger wasabi wings, a delicious goat stew and an amazing red snapper entree on their menu. The Spicy Belly also features a decent beer and cocktail menu. It features wines from local wineries from Bucks, Montgomery and Chester counties. The recipes for featured cocktails were all created by Jason Mills. Another cool thing that they're featuring is movie night. You can catch a fun flick during after hours beginning at 10pm on Saturday nights.
This place has lots of potential to succeed. A creative food concept, good drinks and it's tucked away in a very warm, cute & quaint neighborhood. If you're looking for something new and different, check out The Spicy Belly and experience their unique fusion.
