Philadelphia, PASOMO SoPhi Opening in South Philly - SOMO SoPhi, The Stylish Multi-level Restaurant & Lounge situated at 3101 S. 13th Street, launches on Monday, October 22nd. NFL All-Pro Offensive Guard and also Philly local Jahri Evans, along with his beautiful wife Takia Evans have teamed up with restaurateur James Morrissey to open SOMO SoPhi. The dining establishment and lounge located at the corner of Packer Avenue and 13th street close to the South Philly Stadium Complex.

Somo outsideSOMO SoPhi "Brief for South Philadelphia" is the sister restaurant to Morrissey’s SOMO Manayunk and is considerably larger, according to the Evans. “It is a lavish spot to dine, drink, chill and rub elbows with the city’s movers and shakers,” said Morrissey, who developed both SOMO locations, along with a few Delaware Valley establishments, most notably Paris Bistro, B2 Bluefin and Andiario.

Executive Chef, Waldemar “Val” Stryjewski heads-up cooking team. “We’re starting with dinner service first succeeded by the launch and brunch next weekend on October 27th & 28th, and then we’re rolling out lunch service in November,” according to Stryjewski.

The elegant multi-level eatery includes over 5,000 square feet, features two open-air dining and lounge spaces. The first floor delivers a welcoming feel with a seating area for 50 customers. The ambiance is a laid-back space featuring flat-screen TVs for live Philly sporting events. The menu is the same as SOMO Manayunk’s, featuring New American bistro include appetizers, specialty sandwiches, steaks, and seafood together with seasonally-concentrated local craft beers and specialty mixed drinks.

Along with a capability for upwards to 60 customers, SOMO SoPhi’s 2nd-floor dining area includes an open chef’s kitchen, cocktail bar, and a heated open-air terrace. The center of attention is the mixed drink bar embellished with gray quilted leather and a turn of the century steamer trunk. The cutting-edge cooking area is edged with classic bubble glass, Outfitted with customized sturdy walnut tables, padded chairs and a herringbone designed hardwood floor.
