The BYO establishment will accommodate 75 guests, with additional 11 seats at the sushi bar, as well as two dozen additional seats in the private dining area. Chef Kim describes the fare as “a chef-driven modern-day take on sushi with a serious emphasis on seasonal, shareable tapas-style plates."

Japanese Style Tapas

Hatsu means "new beginnings" in Japanese, and like the menu, the interior design is clean, contemporary, and comfortable. Designer Jimi Nolan designed the 1,900-square-foot dining establishment with a Gotham gray tone and a small number of wood finishes. Kim describes the inside as a modern-day farmhouse that meets industrial chic, along with old tobacco flooring, walnut-top tables, together with Mid-Century walnut as well as black leather seating. The sushi bar features a HI-MACS countertop. The custom-manufactured Yoshimasa sushi case; design was developed from ideas put together by Kim, Nolan, and Lott.
