The restaurant's name, Jembatan 5 or “Lima,” translates to "lima being “five” in Indonesia" referring to an area in Jakarta, Indonesia in which the humble beginning the family food business initial started back in the ’80s.

The family initially relocated to the United States a few decades back and discovered, Indonesian cuisine was not adequately represented in the Philadelphia region. Ever since the family has become passionate about bringing their authentic Indonesian fare along with their kitchen skills to the area.
