Philadelphia, PALark at Ironworks - BE Hospitality and The Landing Kitchen are pleased to announce the opening of a sister restaurant, Lark, in partnership with Penn Group. Located just across the river from Manayunk, Lark’s seventh-floor rooftop dining room and terrace boast a scenic treetop and riverside overlook from the Ironworks at Pencoyd Landing property at 611 Righters Ferry Road.

Fia Berisha, and Nicholas Elmi Open Lark

Lark will open its doors for the first time on Saturday, October 23, at 5 pm and will operate Wednesday through Saturday from 5 to 11 pm, moving forward, with expanded hours to follow in the coming weeks.

A coastal Mediterranean restaurant emphasizing handmade pasta and sustainable seafood while celebrating the abundance of the Mid-Atlantic, heritage meats and locally sourced vegetables round out the menu. The format of the menu is designed to put guests in the driver’s seat of creating their own, approachable yet artful, including Sea Urchin Deviled Eggs, with chive, preserved citrus and caviar; Butter Roasted New Jersey Scallops with honey nut squash, pumpkin seed, and guanciale vinaigrette; Goat Cheese Gnocchi with broccoli, pine nut, and crispy speck; Grilled Short Rib with cipollini, tardivo and black pepper bone marrow butter. The Landing will make a seasonal variety of desserts in-house, and coffee and tea service will be available.

The dinner menu will complement a thoughtful bar program of elevated craft cocktails and an approachable wine list. Spearheaded by Berisha and General Manager Nicole Sullivan, wine selections include small produced old and new world favorites, spanning the natural and zippy to the classically constructed. Lark’s bar menu will also be rooted in a unique selection of local spirits primarily sourced from Pennsylvania and New York distilleries. Creative mocktail and after-dinner cocktail menus will also be available. Lark was designed for casual dining and imbibing — guests can enjoy drinks and snacks at the bar or on the scenic, fire pit-adorned terrace.

“After the warm welcome The Landing Kitchen received after opening in March, we are thrilled to finally share Lark with the local community, which has been so supportive of our vision of bringing spectacular food to the Main Line,” explains Chef Nicholas Elmi, partner at BE Hospitality. “There is so much beauty surrounding us at the Ironworks, from the scenic Schuylkill River to the Manayunk treetops; we wanted to create a dining experience that captured all of that while upholding our high-integrity sourcing, balanced with our desire to be an approachable neighborhood restaurant.”

Nestled seven floors high overlooking the reimagined Ironworks riverfront, Lark boasts an expansive dining room, Lounge, and Library (private dining room), plus a scenic rooftop terrace with seating available seasonally. Like The Landing Kitchen, Lark was a collaborative design project between BE Hospitality’s Fia Berisha and Penn Group’s Donna Galvin, this time taking a more eclectic approach. The dining room and Lounge are dark and edgy with clean lines, while the Library skews more natural to serve as a beautiful canvas for events and parties.

“Working on the design and build-out of Lark over the past two years gave us the time to not just perfect our vision, but to utilize a lot of custom elements from local craftspeople and reclaimed materials we had onsite,” says Donna Galvin, partner at Penn Group. She has been developing the area since 2000. “So many individuals helped bring our vision to life — Stu Kinckner, whose metalwork is on display in our wine service tables; Kirk Loubier, who built out Fia’s designs for banquet seating, dining tables, large-scale lit mirrors, and wine wall designs; plus, Dermot Meehan, Lance Bachman and countless others.”

“Pulling inspiration from minimalist aesthetics, we set out to develop a warm and welcoming space that can serve as the backdrop for an array of dining and event experiences,” explains Fia Berisha, partner at BE Hospitality. “The design process was meant to enhance, not distract from, the beauty that surrounds us while incorporating some of the property’s history. Like Nick’s menu, which is simple yet elevated, we worked toward a minimal design with eclectic touches. In the end, I think we built an approachable destination for any day and occasion.”

Lark will also serve as an event destination, in addition to a full-service restaurant. Prepared to accommodate gatherings of 20 people to 250+ person events and receptions, Lark is complete with a flexible layout and a variety of spaces and configurations to create a high-quality and memorable event.

Located at 611 Righters Ferry Road (7th floor, rooftop) in Bala Cynwyd, Lark will be open four days a week from 5 pm to 11 pm Wednesday through Saturday, with expanded days/hours to come this winter.

Indoor and outdoor seating options are available with reservations via Resy. Happy hour service to roll out in the weeks to come, and private lunch and brunch events are open for future bookings.
