Manayunk (Dec 6 2015) - Derek's, in the city's Manayunk neighborhood opened in 1992 under the name Sonoma  24 years ago and is one of Manayunk's longest-running restaurants. The restaurant was closed Wednesday by the city Revenue Department over what a notice posted on its door called "serious tax violations."

The restaurant - boasted one of the city's earliest vodka bars - is closed permanently, chef/owner Derek Davis acknowledged. At one time, Davis and his then-partners had a string of Main Street restaurants from Venice Island to the East Falls end, including Kansas City Prime, Arroyo Grille/Carmella's, and Fish on Main.

Details of the tax delinquency was not immediately apparent. A judgment does not appear online in Philadelphia court records. City records show a complaint filed by the Health Department in August seeking the restaurant's closure over violations.
