PhillyBite Spring Training at Dilworth ParkPhiladelphia, PA - Spring Training at Dilworth Park comes back this April alongside a variety of complimentary outdoor activities Tuesdays through Thursdays, April 3 through May 24. Top-notch instructors will lead free of charge outdoor training courses to help you get in shape while specialists from Rothman Institute will attend a few classes providing tips on stretching and injury prevention. All conditioning classes are led by knowledgeable trainers from Optimal Sport Health Clubs. The schedule will be:


Tuesdays

Noon: Take a moment to breathe, relax and quiet your mind while building up muscle strength and balance with yoga. Bring your own mat. Yoga teacher Matt Lynch will lead six classes. He finished his 200-hour teacher training at Dig Yoga Philadelphia in December 2015, with an additional 100 hours at Palo Santo Wellness Boutique, and is also a NASM certified personal trainer. David Hem will teach two classes. He loves living and teaching full-time in Philadelphia, and describes himself as a “Novice in life. Expert in not giving up.”

6:00 p.m.: Challenge your routine with the high-intensity approach of a Boot Camp Class led by a variety of trainers. A four-year Spring Training veteran, Erik Strassman or “Coach Strassman,” a Philadelphia born movement specialist and strength and conditioning coach incorporates a mixture of bodyweight exercises, athletic cone drills, boxing combinations and games.

New to Spring Training this year is Midge Shull, who has been a fitness professional for 25 years. She is a CrossFit competitor; FESTIVUS games 2017 Masters women’s world champion, a Spartan racer, and focuses on functional fitness, nutrition and wellness.



Also adding to the mix is Guy Nanni. This Philadelphia native uses his knowledge as a fitness trainer and philosophies from his 10 years experience in martial arts to educate people to understand how their bodies move and function, while achieving fitness goals.

Wednesdays



6:30 p.m.: City Fit Girls Running Club, an all-levels running and fitness community for women, meets near the information center. City Fit Girls was started in 2013 as a group of friends working towards fitness goals in Philadelphia, and has turned into an inclusive fitness and wellness community for women.

Thursdays

6:00 p.m.: Get your body going with Zumba, an all-out, super calorie-burning dance party set to Latin and pop music. Classes are led by Dwayne Townsend, an expert in dance and fitness. As a professional choreographer, he has coached for many dance schools and organizations in the tri-state area.

1:00 - 4:00 p.m.: Zumba® Fest – Dance for Peace is designed to show that Zumba® can be an outlet for love and togetherness creating “One Big Family” right in the heart of Center City Philadelphia. Zumba® is exercise in disguise, and good for one’s mental and physical health, so come share the love, and dance your way to fitness.

Instructors include: ZIN™Luis E Colon Rivera, ZJ™Jana Michelle and ZJ™ Caressa James. Additional licensed Zumba® renowned instructors from the tri-state area and worldwide will be announced closer to the date of the event.

Plus, all season long, you can fuel up with healthy offerings from the Dilworth Park Café. Rehydrate with a refreshing fruited agua fresca. Grab a fresh salad or healthy snack to refuel after your sweat session, for lunch or dinner. The café is open this spring from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., daily.
