PhillyBite Habit BugerPhiladelphia, PA - The Habit Restaurants, Inc. reached out to the Upper Merion Police Department, and also the Cherry Hill and Pennsauken Police Departments in New Jersey in an effort to create a community outreach rewards program for youths.

HabitPolice 2LT Jeff Maurer“We are here today to talk about the partnership with Upper Merion Police Department, and the Rewarding Good Habits program. Giving back to the community is something that is ingrained in our culture, it’s something that we do. We are partnered up with the Upper Merion Township today, and starting this month every officer is going to reward a youth or a teenager who does a good deed. That reward is a voucher for a free award-winning CharBurger with cheese. Some examples of a good deed are that they wear a bicycle helmet or help clean up the community, that kind of thing,” stated District Manager Russell Caratenuto.

Caratenuto continued to explain, “Maybe you’re asking, ‘Why partner up with the Upper Merion Police Department?’ They’re part of the core of our community. They are the ones that help serve to protect, so it’s a nice way for us to get involved and partner up with them and helps us get out to the community as well.”

The announcement was made on April 26th in The Habit Burger Grill (THBG) at the King of Prussia location. Anyone who came to the Rewarding Good Habits event and engaged with the officers also receive the free CharBurger voucher. All of the vouchers that will be given out can be used free-of-charge for the burger, or as the equivalent discount of $3.55 towards another item on the Habit Burger Grill Menu.

Additionally, any youth participating that day was also given a bike helmet and football that the Upper Merion Police brought with them to hand out.

“We see young people doing things to make our community better all the time,” said Lt. Jeffrey Maurer, of Upper Merion’s Community Oriented Policing Division. “We are thrilled to partner with The Habit Burger Grill to be able to offer more than our thanks to them.”

Jadon, who was accompanied by his mother Johanna, was elated to see all the police officers. His mother Johanna stated that, “Jadon wanted to be a police officer when he was younger, but now he wants to be a detective.” And it was evident, as Jadon made sure to speak with every officer who was present at the event. And when it was offered, Jadon was more than happy to be fitted with a bicycle helmet so he could stay safe while out riding his bike this summer. Later, when presented with vouchers for the free CharBurger, his own generosity prevailed as he tried to give an officer one of the vouchers so that they could eat free too. Little did Jadon know, The Habit Grill had already graciously treated all of the officers to a wonderful meal, made to order and with any sides or drinks that they wanted.

The recent partnership between The Habit Restaurants, Inc and the local police is just the beginning of what THBG has planned. The Habit Burger Grill has a history in collaborative efforts to support community relations and positive community activism.

“And we have a CharClub that you can go to on our website to join. It talks about all of our upcoming limited time offers, things that we do in our community, and sometimes you get a free burger on your birthday. So it’s a nice way to promote and get involved in letting you know what we do,” Russell Caratenuto explained.

At The Habit Burger Grill’s more than 220 locations, The Habit team works hard to support the communities it serves by offering non-profits, youth community groups, K-12 schools and more in-kind donations.
