Week 8: Philadelphia Eagles Vs Jacksonville Jaguars PredictionsPhiladelphia, PA - Maybe a trip to London will help the Philadelphia Eagles get things together. The Eagles have been one of the most inconsistent teams in the NFL this season, as they stumble into week 8 at 3-4, just one game back of the NFC East-leading Washington Redskins.

Week 8: Philadelphia Eagles Vs Jacksonville Jaguars Predictions

Week 8: Philadelphia Eagles Vs Jacksonville Jaguars PredictionsThe Eagles have been gifted with a wide open NFC East and wild-card race, giving the Eagles more than enough time to fight their way back into the mix. That being said, this team isn’t playing the same as they did when they made their remarkable run to glory. Their latest loss was an especially gut-wrenching one, as the Eagles held a 17-0 lead at home entering the 4th quarter and were seemingly going to pull away with a comfortable victory over a playoff contender. Both the Eagles offense and defense began to slow down and apparently give the game away to the Panthers, who were able to rattle off three consecutive touchdown drives at the end of the game. The Birds were able to get into the red zone at the end of the game, thanks in large part to a pass interference penalty against Alshon Jeffery. Much like the whole 4th quarter, though, the Eagles could not provide Carson Wentz enough protection, and a strip sack ultimately put an end to the Eagles late rally. It always stings when you allow a road team to tie their largest comeback in franchise history, but when it’s a team that very well could be competing for playoff positioning come December, the effects could resonate for months to come.

As for the Jacksonville Jaguars, they too have been on a skid, having lost three straight games, including last week, a 20-7 drubbing by the Houston Texans. Similarly to the Eagles, the Jaguars still hang around in a wide-open AFC South, with the Texans leading by one game at 4-3. Blake Bortles was benched in favor of Cody Kessler in that game, and Kessler performed better than Bortles did, helping the Jaguars make the score look closer. Despite this, Blake Bortles is slated to be the starter in London, a city that the Jaguars have had tremendous success in before. For the Eagles to expose Bortles much like Houston did, they must pressure him and make life hard. Bortles’ legs are both a blessing and a curse, and he often turns the football over, be it a fumble or an interception, when he’s rolling and running outside of the pocket. This is a huge game for both teams who are looking to return to their form from 2017. The Jaguars ventured to the AFC Title Game last year, while the Eagles won the Lombardi, but based on the two teams’ play this year, you’d never know that. Expect the Eagles to keep their foot on the gas all day long, as they look to put last week’s nailbiter in the rearview mirror.
