Philadelphia, PA - Last week’s 26-33 loss in Glendale definitely hurts for Philadelphia, as they were this close to pulling off an upset victory. Jalen Hurts shined in his second career start, and the Eagles offense is finally humming 15 weeks into the season. They look to keep up the pace against the Dallas Cowboys, who they already beat earlier this season.
Philadelphia Eagles Week 16
In an ordinary season, the Eagles would already be prepping for the offseason. However, in 2020, the Eagles still aren’t out of the NFC East running. They need a few things to go their way, but the first step is to top Dallas. If the Eagles win, they need to hope for the Giants to lose 1 of their last 2 (@ Ravens vs. Cowboys) and Washington to lose against the Panthers. That would set up a winner-take-all showdown between the Eagles and the Football Team for the coveted 4th seed in the NFC Playoffs.
First things first, the Eagles need to beat Dallas, who have also been picking up steam recently. They’ve won back-to-back games with over 30 points scored, and quarterback Andy Dalton is channeling the magic that made him a longtime starter in Cincinnati. The Eagles defense has been decent this year, but they can expect a test from a motivated Cowboys team.
Offensively, the Eagles benefit from Dallas having a porous defense, particularly against the run game. With Hurts running the show, I’d look for a lot of option runs and screens. It what Hurts is most comfortable with and will allow Eagles playmakers to get the ball quickly with a chance to make big plays. Running back Miles Sanders continues to be a stud in the Eagles backfield. Meanwhile, rookie receiver Jalen Reagor has been showing his first-round pedigree lately. These guys are primed for a big game in Arlington, and I think they’ll deliver.
It’s going to be a shootout, but the Eagles will get the job done. I expect Washington to take care of the Panthers in their game, so I wouldn’t count on any playoff berths for the Birds. But we can sure hope. It all starts against Dallas, and the Eagles will get the victory.
