Philadelphia, PA Eagles Take on Washington to End 2020 Season - Following a 37-17 defeat to the Dallas Cowboys, the Philadelphia Eagles have finally been eliminated from the NFC East race.

Philly stormed out to a 14-3 lead after a vintage DeSean Jackson 81-yard touchdown, his only catch of the game. After that, the same weaknesses that have plagued this team continued to cause issues. The defense was torn apart by the Dallas offense, and in the second half, Philly just kept turning the ball over.

Eagles Take on Washington to End 2020 Season

philadelphia eagles jackson jersey nflIt was a frustrating loss to cap a deeply frustrating season for the Eagles. The year will end with a primetime game against the Washington Football Team, with an opportunity to play spoiler for their division title hopes. Washington has been sliding the past few weeks but does get quarterback Alex Smith back to hopefully right the ship. With the Eagles' secondary struggling, Smith seems poised to help Washington reach the playoffs. For the Eagles offense, Jalen Hurts will be running for his life against a very strong Washington front seven. I think the Eagles need to use their running game much, much more to have a chance of winning. They forgot about it last week, and it cost them dearly.

Win or lose, the Eagles know they’re looking at a top-10 draft pick in what will be a crucial offseason. I think the most critical positions to draft are on the defensive side, where cornerback and safety are both big needs. The Eagles could also use a linebacker, though Alex Singleton has been impressive this season. Offensively, the line is a turnstile, and a strong, consistent starter would be great in any one of the positions. The Eagles also could use better receivers, or just for their existing ones to develop.

Regardless, Sunday will be the final game of a forgettable Eagles season. Doug Pederson will be excited to get back to the drawing board and try to rebound next year. Before that happens, the Eagles do have a chance to ruin Washington’s playoff hopes, but I don’t think that they will. Their offense is too inconsistent and their defense has been struggling against the pass.

Final Score: Eagles, 15. Washington, 27.
