The rankings are based on an analysis of expert and consumer opinions.

The Best Places to Visit in the USA list features New York City, Philadelphia and Honolulu in the top three spots, while the Best Historic Destinations list includes New York City, Philadelphia and San Francisco highest in its ranking.

“Everyone should have Philadelphia, New York and Honolulu on their must-experience lists. They are all spectacular and wildly different examples of the American experience,” said Meryl Levitz, president & CEO, VISIT PHILADELPHIA®. “A place that is attractive to visitors is also a place that people want to live and work. Philadelphia is not only a hot travel destination, but it’s also a city with a growing residential and student population and a place where new businesses are thriving. All of these developments go hand in hand.”

“Philadelphia has so much to offer visitors, and it’s an honor to be recognized on this list,” said City of Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney. “We boast world-class theaters and internationally renowned art museums for culture seekers. History lovers can see where modern democracy was born at the  Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and The National Constitution Center in Philadelphia . And, everyone can check out the many restaurants that have made Philly a foodie-sensation—after getting an authentic Philly cheesesteak, of course.”
