“This is my favorite time of the year, and I wanted to do something special,” said Morrissey. “My eight-year-old daughter Sophia (the restaurant’s namesake) requested if we could perhaps collect toys to present to families in need this December. "

"I thought that was a fantastic idea, so my team decided to go all out and host a toy drive at both SOMO locations (Manayunk and South Philly), complete with photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, ice sculptures created by ice artist Peter Slavin, and complimentary tater tot poutine for anyone who brings unwrapped gifts during the weekend of December 14th. We added some ‘icing on the cake’ by inviting children 10 and under to eat brunch for free all weekend between 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.” said Morrissey

Beginning Friday, December 14th. Anyone that delivers an unwrapped present to either SOMO restaurants can redeem an order of Chef Jasper Alivia’s house-made tater tot poutine Free.

On Saturday, December 15th at SOMO Manayunk (located at 4311 Main St.) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. visitors can enjoy complimentary pics with Santa by a professional photographer, as well as children ten years of age and younger will receive a free brunch.

On Sunday, December 16th Santa Claus is going to move to SOMO SoPhi, located at 3101 S. 13th Street in Philadelphia (at the corner of Packer Avenue), with Santa on-site from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Once more, complimentary photos and complimentary brunch for young ones 10 and under.

SOMO SoPhi (short for South Philly), is a multi-level restaurant and lounge concept that opened its doors in late October 2018. It is the sister restaurant to SOMO Manayunk – both owned by designer/restaurateur James Morrissey, NFL All-Pro Offensive Guard, and Philly native Jahri Evans and his wife, Takia Evans.
