Philadelphia, PAVillagio Pizza 9233 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19114 - It was a beautiful morning in Holmesburg a neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia, and being from the suburbs, Frankford Avenue in Holmesburg is a different world to me, Besides I already had a breakfast cheesesteak, and I just wanted to go home and take a nap.

The Philadelphia Cheesesteak Adventure's Villagio Pizza Review

Now, I am pretty sure that everybody from Holmesburg wanted me to go back to the suburbs. Still, Dining on a Dime Podcast, Host Kevin Wilson always raves about Villagio Pizza.

So, since I was in the neighborhood, I decided to put on my big boy pants and go to Villagio Pizza, and I am thrilled that I did. Amidst the hustle and bustle of Frankfort Avenue, is where you'll find Villagio Pizza, a traditional family pizza shop oasis.

It comes complete with several children being homeschooled on laptops socially distanced in the closed dining area. But, the place was busy with a woman making cold sandwiches, a woman working the register, two delivery guys folding pizza boxes, and another delivery guy walking out the door with a delivery.

They have a traditional pizza shop menu, and the counter lady was accommodating. She helped me choose between the special steak and the steak Royal. She suggested the Steak Royal.

I asked her more questions about the special steak when I realized that I was being a nudge, and I went with her original suggestion, the Steak Royal. I was pleased with my choice.

It came with fried onions, peppers, mushrooms, sauce, and cheese melted on top. A good traditional roll and everything spent time in the oven, so the roll had a little toast on it.

This was a very well-balanced Steak Royal with excellent customer service. When it was done the counter, the woman brought it out to me. The fried onions, peppers, mushrooms were of the bigger chunkier variety. It did not have a lot of sauce. The cheese was very nicely melted on top. Overall this was a great cheesesteak, hats off to Kevin Wilson for a great pick.
