PENNSYLVANIA - Less than a year after sending shockwaves through the local craft beer scene by declaring bankruptcy and abruptly shuttering all of its operations, Iron Hill Brewery is plotting a major return to Pennsylvania. The beloved brewpub chain is officially reopening four of its Keystone State outposts under the guidance of a new investor group.
Original founder Mark Edelson is a key figure behind the revival. Edelson joined an ownership group that successfully bought back the Iron Hill brand name, intellectual property, and select locations after the company's other assets and leases were sold off during the liquidation process.
The Returning PA Locations
The new, scaled-back iteration of Iron Hill will focus heavily on the food, award-winning craft beer, and hospitality that originally built its loyal following. Out of the five total locations the group managed to save, four are located in Pennsylvania:
- Center City, Philadelphia: Leading the charge, the Market Street location is expected to be the first to open its doors in mid-April.
- Hershey: Slated to reopen this summer.
- Lancaster: Slated to reopen this summer.
- Huntingdon Valley: Slated to reopen this summer.
To celebrate the revival, the new ownership group has announced the release of a special comeback beer appropriately titled "Unfinished Business." For fans across Pennsylvania, the return of Iron Hill means their favorite local gastropub isn't history just yet.
