DELAWARE COUNTY - After three decades as a cornerstone of Delaware County's nightlife and live music scene, the beloved Tom N Jerry's Sports Bar in Ridley Township is officially changing hands.
The ownership team recently took to social media to announce the bittersweet news: they've reached an agreement to sell the iconic establishment. The announcement ends years of local speculation and rumors that a Wawa or Olive Garden might swallow up the prime real estate.
The Property and the Deal: Located at 1006 MacDade Boulevard in Folsom, the property hit the market with an asking price of $1,575,000. The expansive site features a 7,600-square-foot, two-story building on over an acre of land comprising eight parcels.
Beyond the heavy foot traffic and daily traffic count of over 30,000 vehicles, a major selling point is its highly coveted Delaware County R-Liquor License, valued at approximately $300,000 alone.
A 30-Year Musical Legacy: While the real estate metrics are impressive, Tom N Jerry's true value lies in its 30-year legacy as a community sanctuary. Since its inception in 1996, the bar has served as a second home for thousands of patrons, staff, and artists.
Following the announcement, an outpouring of support flooded social media from locals who view the pub as the heartbeat of Delco's live music scene. Local artists and booking agents lamented the loss of a premier venue, reflecting on legendary local showcases like "Wingz & Jamz with Musician Impossible."
Local musician Tim Hoctor described the venue as "a community treasure that extends far beyond just Delco," while former bartender Gina Marie, who had been with the pub since its opening in 1996, thanked ownership for running "the best place in Delco to listen/support live music."
What Comes Next? As for the future of the 1006 MacDade Blvd property, the current ownership team—including local fixtures Ed, Jerry, and Nerissa—noted that they cannot say for sure what direction the new owners plan to take the sprawling commercial site.
The uncertainty has left many in the community pleading with the new owners to recognize the property's cultural capital. As patron Barbara Danese commented, "I pray that the new owners realize what an incredible musical gem they are buying. And I'm pleading that they keep the local music alive."
For now, the doors at Tom N Jerry's remain open a little longer, giving patrons a final chance to share a laugh, raise a glass, and toast30 years of Delco history before the lights go out on a legendary era.
