Chicago’s Goose Island Beer Company has partnered with Philadelphia’s own Karamoor Estate Wines for a one-of-a-kind collaboration: Chrysos, a limited-edition saison inspired by Goose Island’s Sofie that was aged in 2013 Cabernet Franc barrels – one of Karamoor Estate’s finest wines.
About: Chrysos Chrysos is a 100% barrel-aged saison, featuring Goose Island’s Sofie base aged in Karamoor’s 2013 Cabernet Franc barrels. While Sofie is partially barrel-aged, Chrysos is 100 percent barrel-aged, bringing out more of the oak-heavy characteristics of the barrel and increasing the earthy notes that come from the Brettanomyces yeast. Chrysos was stored in a warm barrel warehouse, in order to have the beer in an environment which encourages growth of the Brettanomyces.
Chrysos Availability: Chrysos will be available via draft-only at Osteria as well as other locations in the Vetri Family of Restaurants including: Amis, Alla Spina, Lo Spiedo in the Philadelphia Navy Yard and Pizzeria Vetri (2 Philadelphia locations).
About Goose Island: Sofie Goose Island Brewing Company is one of Chicago’s original craft breweries – founded in 1988.
