Trader Joe's Expanding in Pennsylvania: 2 New StoresPENNSYLVANIA - Good news for Pennsylvania grocery shoppers, especially Two-Buck Chuck and Mandarin Orange Chicken fans! Trader Joe's, the popular neighborhood grocery chain known for its unique products and devoted following, continues expanding in the Keystone State. As part of a larger nationwide growth plan, two new Trader Joe's locations are officially confirmed for Pennsylvania: one in Berwyn and another in Exton, both anticipated to open their doors sometime in 2025.

New Locations Coming Soon!

Pennsylvania shoppers in Chester and Delaware Counties have reason to celebrate with these upcoming additions:

  1. Berwyn, PA:
    • Location: 550 Lancaster Avenue, Berwyn, PA 19312 (in the Berwyn Shopping Center, taking over the former CVS/Acme space).
    • Status: Confirmed as "Coming Soon!" While initial rumors surfaced earlier, the location is now officially listed by Trader Joe's. It will be located less than three miles from the existing successful Trader Joe's in the Gateway Shopping Center, which the company states will remain open.
  2. Exton, PA:
    • Location: 125 West Lincoln Highway, Exton, PA 73132 (West Whiteland Township).
    • Status: Also officially announced by Trader Joe's as "Coming Soon!" as of early April 2025. This marks a significant new location for shoppers in the Exton area.

Part of a Nationwide Expansion

These two Pennsylvania stores are part of a larger initiative by Trader Joe's to open 21 new stores across 13 states and Washington D.C. This expansion comes as consumer habits shift, with growing demand for the unique, budget-conscious, and curated selection that Trader Joe's offers. While larger supermarket chains often lean into automation, Trader Joe's continues to emphasize customer interaction and its neighborhood-focused store model.

When Will They Open?

While excitement is high, Trader Joe's spokespeople have not yet confirmed specific grand opening dates for the Berwyn and Exton locations. However, the company has indicated that many of the newly announced stores nationwide are expected to open before the end of 2025. Construction and setup timelines will vary, so shoppers should watch for local announcements later in the year.

Why Trader Joe's Chooses Its Locations

According to company executives on the "Inside Trader Joe's" podcast, site selection involves carefully considering population density, convenient traffic patterns, and ample parking to ensure the store effectively serves the neighborhood.

New Jersey FlagConfirming new Trader Joe's stores in Berwyn and Exton is welcome news for Pennsylvania residents. These openings will bring the chain's unique products, friendly atmosphere, and affordable prices to even more shoppers in the greater Philadelphia suburbs. While exact opening dates remain pending, the anticipation is building for a 2025 debut, further solidifying Trader Joe's presence in the Keystone State.
