PENNSYLVANIA - James Beard Award-winning restaurateur Ellen Yin and her High Street Hospitality Group (HSHG) are expanding their Philadelphia footprint with a new Italian-inspired destination, Bar Cicci.
The new spot is set to open at 1620 Sansom St., strategically located in the Rittenhouse neighborhood directly next to the highly anticipated sushi destination, Uchi. While official details remain closely guarded, Bar Cicci is slated for a Spring 2026 debut.
A New Chapter in Italian Dining
Though specific menu items have not yet been revealed, the concept is confirmed to be an Italian-influenced bar and restaurant. Yin, who was named the 2023 James Beard Outstanding Restaurateur, is known for concepts that balance sophistication with neighborhood charm.
Consistent with the HSHG ethos, Bar Cicci is expected to prioritize:
- Local Sourcing: A commitment to Mid-Atlantic farmers and artisans.
- Ethical Ingredients: A focus on sustainable sourcing and high-quality grains, a hallmark of Yin’s other ventures.
- Artisanal Beverage Program: Given the success of sister concepts like a.bar, the new location is expected to feature a robust cocktail and wine program designed to complement its Italian fare.
Joining an Elite Portfolio
Bar Cicci will become the latest addition to a portfolio that has defined Philadelphia’s modern dining scene for nearly three decades. Its celebrated sister locations include:
- Fork: Modern New American flagship in Old City.
- High Street: Rustic American dishes and an artisanal bakery in Washington Square West.
- a.kitchen: A stylish bistro serving seasonal small plates in a white-oak-lined space in Rittenhouse.
- a.bar: A sleek, contemporary cocktail bar located next to a.kitchen.
- The Bread Room: A space dedicated to artisanal bread-making, workshops, and events.
The Rittenhouse Expansion
The choice of 1620 Sansom St. places Bar Cicci in the heart of a rapidly evolving culinary corridor. By opening next to Uchi, Yin is helping to solidify Sansom Street as a primary destination for high-end dining in Center City.
The move also reinforces HSHG's long-standing connection to Rittenhouse, where a.kitchen + bar has remained a staple since Yin took over the space in 2014. As Philadelphia continues to gain national recognition as a "world-class culinary city," Bar Cicci is poised to be one of the most significant openings of the year.
