PhillyBite10PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Philadelphia food scene is constantly evolving, and University City just scored a major win. On Thursday, June 4, Gather Food Hall will officially welcome Cappelli's Bros. Cheesesteaks to its curated culinary lineup inside the historic Bulletin Building at Schuylkill Yards. The new location will be open daily from [specific hours], welcoming both locals and visitors eager to try their offerings.

Led by brothers Michael and Andrew Cappelli alongside brand developer Todd O'Connor, this new outpost brings a true Philadelphia-born concept right to the heart of a bustling district. As I gear up to eat my 961st unique cheesesteak and begin scouting fresh contenders for the 7th annual PhillyBite Cheesesteak Madness tournament, checking out their new University City menu is at the top of my to-do list.

The Menu: Classics and Late-Night Bites

The Cappelli brothers are already well-known along the Midtown Village corridor, operating 15th Street Pizza and Cheesesteaks, Pizzeria Cappelli, and Cappelli Cigar Shop. At Gather, the menu is perfectly tailored to the local student and innovator crowd. You can expect classic steak and chicken cheesesteaks, hearty protein bowls, and vegetarian options. Their house specialties feature decadent loaded fries, including buffalo chicken and cheesesteak-loaded variations, ideal for quick lunches or late-night bites.

Cappelli's is in great company, joining Gather Food Hall's diverse 13,000-square-foot roster, which currently includes Mucho Perú, Sahbyy Food, El Mictlan, and Bowl'd Masala, as well as the full-service Bulletin Bar, pouring handcrafted cocktails, draft beer, and wine.

Gearing Up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and Beyond

The timing of this opening couldn't be better. As the city prepares for a summer full of major events like the 2026 FIFA World Cup, America's 250th celebrations, and MLB All-Star Week, Gather Food Hall is set to become a lively hub for soccer fans and community members alike, fostering a sense of excitement and belonging.

Beyond the World Cup, the food hall's recurring community activations are in full swing:

  • Free Brewer Spotlights: First Tuesday of each month (4:00 PM – 6:00 PM)
  • Karaoke Wednesdays: (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM)
  • Music Bingo Thursdays: (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM)
  • Sunday Happy Hour DJs: (5:00 PM – 8:00 PM)
