PHILADELPHIA  — Village Whiskey, the acclaimed chef-driven concept from James Beard Award-winner Jose Garces, has announced a significant menu refresh, blending its signature style of elevated comfort food with a deeper dive into bold Southern flavors and expert craftsmanship. The updated selections, designed personally by Chef Garces, aim to deliver the warm, indulgent experience guests have come to expect, now with added complexity and flair.

Culinary Evolution: A Focus on Southern-Inspired Indulgence

The new menu emphasizes scratch-made cooking and high-quality ingredients across all courses, moving beyond familiar tavern fare to embrace rich culinary traditions, particularly those of the American South.

"Village Whiskey has always been rooted in the idea of elevated comfort food and with this new menu, we’re expanding on that inspiration through dishes that dive deeper into the bold flavors and culinary traditions of the South,” said Chef Garces.

New Menu Highlights

The revamp introduces several exciting additions across starters, entrees, and desserts:

  • Starters & Snacks:

    • Pimento Cheese Dip: Creamy house pimento cheese served with warm garlic sourdough toast.

    • Charred Shishito Peppers: Blistered peppers finished with bourbon-smoked salt and comeback sauce.

    • Shrimp and Avocado Salad: Chilled shrimp with avocado, watermelon radish, and a lime-bourbon vinaigrette.

  • Southern Entrée Focus:

    • Shrimp and Grits: Blackened shrimp served over cheese grits with tasso gravy and mustard greens.

    • Bourbon Apple Glazed Short Ribs: Tender short ribs served with glazed baby carrots, celery root puree, blue cheese, and crispy shallots.

    • Pimento Cheese Melts: Griddled sandwiches—available in Veggie or Pulled Pork—layered with Cooper Sharp, mustard greens, caramelized onions, and pickled jalapeños.

  • Slider Variety: New options include Hot Chicken (buttermilk fried chicken with ranch) and Fried Shrimp, alongside the new Pulled Pork slider (with pimento cheese and mustard greens).

  • Desserts: The menu adds two decadent, spirit-forward treats:

    • Lime Posset: Velvety citrus custard with brown butter streusel and bourbon whipped cream.

    • Chocolate Bourbon Chess Pie: A rich chocolate filling baked in a flaky crust, finished with bourbon whipped cream.
