PhillyBite10PHILADELPHIA - Just six months after successfully launching Mi Vida in Market East, KNEAD Hospitality + Design is bringing another vibrant Mexican dining concept to the city. Mi Casa is now open in University City, taking over the 138-seat space at 3151 Market Street.

KNEAD Hospitality Opens Tex-Mex Hotspot Mi Casa in University City

The more energetic of the two sister restaurants (Mi Vida being the other), Mi Casa features a bold menu that takes the familiar textures and flavors of traditional Tex-Mex and combines them into inventive fusion plates. The kitchen is led by corporate chef and Top Chef contestant Jonathan Dearden, who is putting together a menu that is very much a marriage of the classic flavors of the American Southwest and Northern Mexico.

Tacos, Tequila, and Adobo Lasagna

Guests can, of course, get all the classic Tex-Mex they could want (fresh guac, loaded nachos, traditional tacos, etc.), but the menu is really where it comes alive when Dearden really goes for it. The real highlights are the signature dishes, such as the ambitious mezcal meatloaf and the adobo lasagna. The menu really stands out in the University City scene.

To complement the bold, fire-kissed menu, the restaurant also offers an extensive full-service bar program. Agave lovers will be in their element with over 100 different tequilas and mezcals to choose from in the bar's curated collection.

A Vibrant Space for the Neighborhood

Designed to cater to the University City crowd, it has 138 indoor seats plus a large outdoor patio which can be hired out for private functions. It's full-service all day, with a full brunch, lunch, and dinner menu.

Mi Casa is open seven days a week to satisfy those Tex-Mex cravings. The restaurant operates from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday through Thursday, extends its hours to 10:00 PM on Fridays, and opens early at 10:00 AM for weekend brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.
