PhillyBite10PHILADELPHIA PA – On Saturday, March 11, 2017, Southwark School, a City of Philadelphia designated community school funded by the City of Philadelphia Soda Tax will host a Literacy Town Hall to educate families and community members about the importance of early childhood literacy.

The event will feature a keynote speech by Dr. Jose Medina from the Center for Applied Linguistics; an educational panel discussion with the City’s Chief Education Officer Otis Hackney and other education thought leaders, including Southwark staff; a ribbon cutting celebrating the grand reopening of Southwark’s library; and various parent workshops on literacy resources.
