Philadelphia, PA - Local Philadelphia couple Peter Heacock and Marie Hart of unPOP Animation have created a viral sensation with their latest stop-motion animated music video, ‘A Philly Special Christmas Special.’ This eight-minute masterpiece features the Philadelphia Eagles' Jason Kelce, Jordan Mailata, and Lane Johnson, with special guests Travis Kelce and Patti LaBelle.
This ambitious project encompassed 5,000 hours of meticulous work to create 20 handcrafted puppets, 5,000 individual photographs, and various custom-made sets and costumes. The video features iconic Philadelphia references and cameos from local celebrities such as Nick Foles, Patti LaBelle, and Jason’s brother Travis Kelce, who plays a big role by singing a duet called “Fairytale of Philadelphia.”
The idea for ‘A Philly Special Christmas Special’ was born when Connor Barwin, Jason Kelce, and Charlie Hall (of the band War on Drugs) approached unPOP with the concept in July. After their huge success with last year’s Christmas album, they wanted to create something bigger this year. Peter Heacock said of Barwin: “Connor is a maven. He’s so good at spotting talent and building a team." Marie Hart added: “This project was big! (We have a great team working with us). Pete and I love being from Philadelphia. I can’t imagine something more fun than making a Christmas card for this city."
unPOP Animation is a hybrid animation studio and advertising agency that knows how to shine on small and big screens. Their portfolio boasts collaborations with giants like Lego, VW, Sesame Street, and Samsung. Hart reflects: “This project is our love letter to Philadelphia and the Eagles, a celebration of our journey as creators and social media influencers."
