Philadelphia Phillies Spring Training Guest Instructors Announced

Manager Pete Mackanin and his coaching staff will intermittently be assisted by Larry Andersen, Chad Durbin, Wes Helms, Brad Lidge, Charlie Manuel and Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt. That group represents the 1980 and 2008 World Champions as well as the 1983 and 1993 National League Champions.

Manager Pete Mackanin and his coaching staff will intermittently be assisted by Larry Andersen, Chad Durbin, Wes Helms, Brad Lidge, Charlie Manuel and Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt. Andersen, Lidge, Manuel and Schmidt have assisted in past spring training camps while 2017 will mark the first time Durbin and Helms are back in Phillies uniforms since their playing days.

The remaining members of the spring training instructional staff are the major league coaching staff of Larry Bowa (bench), Rick Kranitz (assistant pitching), Bob McClure (pitching), John McLaren (bullpen), Mickey Morandini (first base), Juan Samuel (third base), Matt Stairs (hitting), Jesus Tiamo (bullpen catcher) and Bob Stumpo (bullpen catcher); the triple-A staff of Dusty Wathan (manager), Sal Rende (coach) and Dave Lundquist (pitching coach); minor league coordinators Andy Abad (outfield/baserunning), Frank Cacciatore (assistant hitting), Rafael Chaves (pitching), Doug Mansolino (field), Andy Tracy (hitting), Chris Truby (infield) and Ernie Whitt (catching); and player development staff members Carlos Arroyo and Jorge Velandia.

The first workout for pitchers and catchers at the Phillies' spring training complex in Clearwater, Fla., is scheduled for February 14 with full-squad workouts slated to begin on February 17.
