OHIO - The arrival of the first-ever Ohio Buc-ee's has been one of the most anticipated retail openings in the state, sparking widespread excitement among residents eager for a taste of Beaver Nuggets and world-famous brisket. While the groundbreaking took place in August 2024, the path to opening the massive travel center in Huber Heights has seen a few delays. Here is the most current information on when Ohioans can expect to finally visit the beloved beaver.
New Opening Date Set for Spring 2026
After originally targeting a late 2025 grand opening, the official timeline for the Huber Heights Buc-ee's has been pushed back. Company representatives have confirmed that the new, projected opening date is now in the spring of 2026, with some reports specifically mentioning April 2026.
What Caused the Delay?
The shift in the timeline is the result of a few "early project hiccups."
- Utility Disputes: Construction was briefly paused in late 2024 due to a legal dispute between the City of Huber Heights and Clark County over who would provide water and sewer services to the massive 74,000-square-foot site. This issue was resolved in early 2025, allowing construction to resume.
- Site and Weather Issues: Officials have also cited the complex work of relocating and rerouting existing sewer and electric lines on the property, as well as unfavorable weather conditions, as contributing factors to the adjusted schedule.
What to Expect at the Huber Heights Location
Located at the intersection of Interstate 70 and State Route 235, the first Buc-ee's in Ohio is set to be one of the company's largest and most modern prototypes. It will feature:
- A 74,000-square-foot convenience store
- 120 gas pumps
- 24 EV charging stations
- All the classic Buc-ee's favorites, including fresh Texas barbecue, homemade fudge, and the world's cleanest restrooms.
Hiring Has Begun
In a positive sign that the project is moving steadily toward its new 2026 opening date, Buc-ee's has already begun the hiring process for its management team for the Huber Heights location as of July 2025. The company is expected to hire hundreds of additional employees for roles like cashiers, food service, and maintenance closer to the opening date.
While Ohioans will have to wait a little longer than originally expected, the beaver is officially on its way. The first Buc-ee's in the state is now on track to open in the spring of 2026, bringing its unique, super-sized convenience store experience to the crossroads of America in Huber Heights.
