The cafe prides itself on carefully crafted coffees, delicious meals, and delightful ice cream creations. The menu is surprisingly robust for a remote island establishment, and the prices are very fair for the quality you receive.
During our visit, we opted for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up:
- Sweet Vanilla Creme Marsh Mud Cold Brew: This signature iced coffee was absolutely delicious! The sweet vanilla flavor paired perfectly with the robust cold brew, creating a refreshing, well-balanced drink that hits the spot on a warm day.
- Iced Lemon Pound Cake: To pair with the coffee, we grabbed a slice of their iced lemon pound cake. It was fresh, sweet, and every bite was completely satisfying.

When you step off the sun-drenched paths of Tangier Island, the atmosphere inside Muddy Toes Cafe is an immediate relief. The space is not only nicely decorated to reflect the local coastal vibe, but it also offers a good amount of seating for groups to hang out, complete with highly appreciated cold AC.
Matching the comfortable environment is the fantastic hospitality. The service here was great—the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in, ensuring our order was prepared promptly so we could get back to exploring the island.

Muddy Toes Cafe is a fantastic addition to the Tangier Island experience. Between the incredible Marsh Mud Cold Brew, the satisfying lemon pound cake, and the genuinely welcoming staff, it provides a much-needed, air-conditioned retreat in the heart of town. It is the ideal place to cool down, grab a great cup of coffee, and relax during your Chesapeake Bay adventure.
