Snuzzles is a bar and restaurantPhiladelphia, PA - It was a lovely August Wednesday morning and boy there is some pretty country up in Berks County. I had a double-secret meeting in Mertztown, Berks County. I was on my way to my next double-secret meeting in Phoenixville when I noticed a sign on the side of the road that said Snuzzles needs help on nights and weekends.

 Philadelphia Cheesesteak Adventure at Snuzzles

Snuzzles is a bar and restaurant. I looked on my go-to list and son of a gun there were on it. I don't know how driving around Philly I can never find a place on my go-to list but in Mertztown, an hour and a half from civilization I have a place.

Anyway, this is where my day takes a turn for the worse. Can we blame it on COVID-19? I don't think so but we can try. I had past Snuzzles so I stopped and called them to see if they were open. They were, and I asked if they had a cheesesteak and I was told I could view the menu online.

I guess they were trying to be helpful but I did not get a warm and fuzzy feeling from that response, but I went to Snuzzles anyway. I go to the takeout area which is the bar. I am the only one there. I look at the menu and see several cheesesteak options.

I am a warm and fuzzy people person so I asked the bartender which is their best Cheesesteak. She said that is a hard choice and then answered the phone.

She was on the phone for what felt like 3 hours and it sounded like she was reading the whole menu to the person on the phone. In case you weren't paying attention, when I called I was told to look at the menu online.

She eventually hung up the phone and then waited on the guy that came in after me (he had phoned his order in but it was her 1st order so she had to give him a lot of singles for his change).

I finally got to order my Cheesesteak. I decided not to be a baby and paid extra to get roasted peppers on my Cheesesteak.

When after my Cheesesteak arrived, I went to the parking lot to have a trunk picnic with a fantastic view of the parking lot.

I did not like my Cheesesteak. I was expecting a soft roll that most places in that area use. The roll felt like a soft roll bakers vision of a traditional long roll and was too bready.

My Cheesesteak came with sauce but not a lot and the meat was a little dry. When I tasted Cheese It was good, but very few peppers and they were on the bottom.

There is a great view of the parking lot.  Located at: 145 Lyons Rd, Mertztown, PA 19539
