The upcoming Zac's Halal location will take over the space formerly home to the macaroni and cheese store, Mac Mart. Mac Mart recently decided to permanently close its original 18th Street storefront and shift its operations to a mini kiosk at 1800 Arch Street.
This transition paves the way for Zac's Halal to bring its menu to the bustling corridor. The new restaurant recently went before the city's Sign & Streetery Committee to seek approval for its storefront design. The proposed exterior features a 16-foot-by-2.5-foot red illuminated channel letter sign reading "ZAC'S HALAL," with a list of featured food items displayed underneath, creating anticipation for a distinctive new spot.

Zac's Halal arrival is part of a broader wave of retail growth in downtown Philadelphia, reflecting a vibrant, evolving city.
