One summer night, the lush and green Franklin Square was transformed into a magical sea of white for one of the best parties of the summer. Guests prepared beautiful tables adorned with creative centerpieces including white flowers, glistening candelabras, lights, candles, and artistic displays. Giant, white DEB balloons accented the entire park. Every one of the 5,200 plus guests and volunteers set the backdrop for the evening’s many festivities dressed to impress. While DEB has many guidelines and rules to follow, guest interpretations of white only strayed a tiny bit. The entire park was a delight to see. Many people managed to look sharp and crisp despite the temperature peaking around 90 degrees. The host for the evening was dressed in a white tuxedo, complete with top hat, tails and a cane. Who wore it best? Everyone. The park was filled with guests dressed in costumes and special outfits. Some guests kept it simple and casual, white tee shirts and pants with rolled cuffs at the bottom. Some guests wore lightweight blazers, or vests with button downed shirts. Some guests really were glamorous including wearing bridal gowns. Lots of fascinators with elaborate feathers. A pair of friends donned vintage white outfits, complete with fascinators. One guest wore a white corset over a white tulle skirt , her friend sported a suit complete with white lace up boots. They each wore a mask, one delicate lace and one cat shaped covered in sequins. Overall, there were so many textures and accessories. The trends were apparent: lace, sequins, mini dresses, flowy gowns, fringe, white suits, cold shoulder tops and dresses, billowing skirts of tulle. Long dresses, daring low cut necklines and backless dresses. My favorite accessory was the lighted necklaces. The footware included espadrilles, ballet flats, sandals and some brave guests wore heels. As dusk fell, the sequins glittered as guests strolled the grounds. The finale to this magical display was a sea of white sparklers which made anything with a mirror, crystal or rhinestone come alive!Philadelphia's Le Dîner en Blanc  - One summer night, the lush and green Franklin Square was transformed into a magical sea of white for one of the best parties of the summer.
