PENNSYLVANIA - Following the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis on April 21, 2025, Governor Josh Shapiro has ordered that the United States and Commonwealth flags on all Commonwealth facilities, public buildings, and grounds across Pennsylvania be flown at half-staff immediately.


Governor Shapiro Orders Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of Pope Francis

This directive serves as a mark of respect and mourning for the late head of the Catholic Church. The flags are to remain lowered until sunset on Saturday, April 26, 2025, the date set for Pope Francis's funeral Mass and interment.



All residents of Pennsylvania are invited to join in this tribute by lowering flags on their properties as well.
