WILMINGTON, Del. – April 22, 2025 – Governor Matt Meyer has ordered flags at all state-owned buildings and facilities throughout Delaware to be flown at half-staff to mark the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis.

The order took effect Tuesday, April 22, 2025, following the death of the Pope on Monday, April 21. Flags will remain lowered until sunset on Saturday, April 26, 2025, the day of his funeral.

In announcing the directive, Governor Meyer issued a statement expressing the state's condolences: “Delaware mourns the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis.”

This tribute reflects the global mourning for the head of the Catholic Church, who served as pontiff for over 12 years.
