PHILADELPHIA - The Main Line's favorite tea room is marking a major milestone this October. A Taste of Britain is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a special $35 three-course prix fixe menu, with proceeds directly benefiting the Wayne Senior Center.
Originally opened in Devon in 1991 by Marie Hope, the beloved tea room was taken over by Debbie and Edward Pierce in 2012. Over the decades, the establishment has become deeply ingrained in the community, serving as the backdrop for countless family traditions and celebrations. To give back to the neighborhood that has supported them, the Pierces selected the Wayne Senior Center as the beneficiary for the anniversary funds.
The 35th Anniversary Prix Fixe Menu
Available throughout October, the $35 three-course menu highlights some of the tea room's best made-from-scratch offerings.
First Course (Choice of):
- Spinach & Apple Salad: Baby spinach, crisp apples, crumbled goat cheese, pistachios, and pickled red onion, tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette.
- Warm Homemade Scone with Spreads: A choice of buttermilk, blueberry citrus, chocolate chip, cherry almond, lemon, or pumpkin scone, served with clotted cream, strawberry preserves, and lemon curd.
Second Course (Choice of):
- Toasted Croissant Sandwich: Served with baby greens and a choice of curried chicken salad, tuna salad, or egg salad.
- Apple, Cranberry Butter, & Brie Toastie: Freshly sliced apples, bright cranberries, and melty brie on grilled sourdough.
- Frittata of the Day: A crustless quiche served with tomato butter.
Third Course (Choice of):
- Orange Posset: A classic British dessert made with cream, sugar, and fresh orange juice, set to a silky, custard-like texture.
- Traditional Gingerbread: Served warm and topped with lemon curd.
Weekday Afternoon Tea Specials
In addition to the three-course prix fixe, A Taste of Britain is rolling back the price of its Full Afternoon Tea service to $35 (normally $40) on Mondays through Thursdays throughout October. This special weekday service will feature an exclusive 35th-anniversary tea blend, offering guests the perfect excuse to visit during the week and explore the restaurant's extensive selection of over 50 teas.
Located at 503 W. Lancaster Avenue in the Eagle Village Shops of Wayne, A Taste of Britain operates seven days a week from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM for lunch and tea service. Visitors can also browse the on-site retail store, which is fully stocked with goods to excite any Anglophile.
