Melrose DinerPhiladelphia, PA - The fire that broke out at Melrose Diner in South Philadelphia, one of Philadelphia's oldest diners in the city.

While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, crews were able to put out the fire and save the diner within minutes after arriving at the scene.

The diner's owner confirmed the incident but said the extent of the damage is unknown and praised the work of The Philadelphia Fire Department.

The owner says he hopes to reopen the restaurant. The diner is located at the intersection of Snyder Avenue and Passyunk Avenue, and South 15th Street. Firefighters were dispatched and found heavy smoke coming from the roof. Firefighters extinguished the fire within a half hour.
