PHILADELPHIA – Who says the holiday season is limited to December? The Fishtown District is proving that festive cheer can thrive in the heat of summer, bringing a special Christmas in July edition of its popular "Under the El Bazaar" series to the neighborhood. This vibrant, open-air block party is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, taking over the 1700 block of North Front Street directly beneath the Market-Frankford El.
The event serves as a unique holiday marketplace, blending traditional seasonal magic with summer spirit. Attendees can browse a diverse array of local artisans, makers, and vintage vendors, making it an ideal opportunity to get a head start on holiday gift lists or discover one-of-a-kind treasures. Keeping with the theme, the bazaar will feature festive island-inspired holiday music, cheerful summer décor, and a variety of seasonal surprises throughout the day. A highlight for families will be the chance to take photos with Santa Claus, who will be making a special mid-summer appearance from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
In addition to shopping and entertainment, the bazaar offers plenty of activities for all ages, including games and family-friendly experiences. The event is both family and fido-friendly, encouraging neighbors and visitors alike to enjoy the afternoon in a welcoming outdoor environment.
Fishtown's local culinary scene will be fully involved, with neighborhood favorites offering food and drink specials throughout the afternoon. Participating businesses include the Evil Genius Beer Company at 1727 N. Front Street, Percy Diner & Bar at 1700 N. Front Street, and Pure Green at 1700 N. Front Street.
