PHILADELPHIA - The wait is over for Philadelphia sports fans. After nearly a decade away, professional cycling is officially returning to one of the most famous climbs in American racing. The team at PhillyBite Magazine is thrilled to share that Race Street Partners has revitalized the Philadelphia Cycling Classic, bringing elite bikers back to the legendary Manayunk Wall on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
Since its debut in 1985, this race—affectionately known by locals as simply the "Manayunk Bike Race"—has been a cornerstone of the neighborhood's identity. To celebrate its triumphant return just in time for America 250, the Manayunk Development Corporation is hosting a massive, free celebration to welcome the world back to Main Street.
The Manayunk Family Watch Party
Taking place right at the heart of the action at Main and Levering streets, the Manayunk Family Watch Party will run from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This free, family- and fido-friendly event offers prime viewing as cyclists tackle the grueling 17-percent grade of the Wall.
Attendees can enjoy a full day of activities, including:
- Designing your own ride shades and bedazzling bike helmets
- A community Tie-Dye Party
- The interactive Towpath Scavenger Hunt

For those who must drive, limited parking will be available at the Green Lane lot.
