West Philadelphia — Original owners Daniel Gutter and Alex Carbonell have officially reopened Pizza Plus West at 4814 Spruce St. after reclaiming the shop following a failed sale and a short closure.
The neighborhood Pizza spot is back in its original storefront, welcoming customers once again as of October 12, 2026.
What to know about the reopening:
- The location and date: The shop reopened on October 12, 2026, at its familiar Spruce Street address in West Philadelphia.
- The new partners: Longtime employees and partners Saul Pineda and Pedro Vasquez — who previously worked with Carbonell for more than a decade at It's Nutts in Titusville, N.J. — have joined the team to run the ovens.
- New menu additions: Alongside Gutter's signature Detroit-style squares and 16-inch New York-style pies, the shop now offers fried chicken by the piece (brined for 24 hours, a specialty from It's Nutts) as well as personal-size New York-style pies.
- Hours: Open 11:30 AM to 9 PM Sunday through Thursday, and 11:30 AM to 10 PM Friday and Saturday. Closed on Tuesdays.
The return of the original ownership team restores a popular local Pizza option. It expands the menu with fried chicken, giving West Philly residents a familiar favorite with a few fresh twists.
