Philadelphia, PAPhillyBite Philadelphia -  WHYY/Plan Philly produced a comprehensive profile of how the City of Philadelphia operates on a day-to-day basis, with an emphasis on data and the hard-working people behind the scenes. The profile captures how thousands of individuals working for the City,

SEPTA - Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, and other governmental agencies come together every single day to provide the vital services that the City needs to function, whether it’s collecting trash, fixing streetlights, and so much more.

The piece incorporates data throughout and provides a “by the numbers” overview of municipal government operations. For example, on this particular day last August, the Phila.gov website received 29,991 visits, sanitation crews picked up 2,142 tons of trash, and residents checked 18,524 books out of neighborhood libraries. Most importantly, the profile recognizes the dedication of the City employees who work on the front lines each and every day but often go unrecognized for their service.
