Philadelphia Zoo Announces New Additions for 2019

Starting Saturday, April 6, 2019, visitors can experience Creatures of Habitat as well as visiting 12 incredible life-size LEGO® brick vignettes located throughout the Zoo. This gazillion piece journey shares the difficulties wildlife is facing all around the world and spotlights the heroes working to rescue them. Each life-sized LEGO® brick scene is elaborately designed from thousands of LEGO® bricks on display through September 30th.

While checking out Creatures of Habitat, visitors can make use of the new ZOO KEY at audiobooks situated at each LEGO® brick sculpture in addition to various other locations around the Zoo. Guests will uncover insider secrets and tales about the animals living at Philadelphia Zoo, narrated by the zookeepers who care and attend for them. The Zoo Key is a Philadelphia tradition which goes back decades. Generations of families enjoyed the Zoo with their Key. Indeed, countless Philadelphia's still have their own original keys as a souvenir to treasure. The Philadelphia Zoo is happy to bring back this tradition and make new memories for generations to come.

The Urban Green, a new outdoor food market and chill zone developed in collaboration with Groundswell Design Group is also opening up this spring. The Urban Green features a variety of yummy alternatives from fresh sandwiches and custom fries to craft beers and wines. “It’s as if a neighborhood park with great food and a cool atmosphere just sprang up in the middle of the Zoo,” says Davis Fierbend, CEO, Groundswell Design Group. Boasting outdoor seating, contemporary artwork, a vertical farm, play and chill zones for all ages, The Urban Green is ready to become the best open-air spot in Philadelphia.
