Gallitzin State ForestPhiladelphia, PA - The Gallitzin State Forest is located in western Pennsylvania, just outside the city of Johnstown. There are two main divisions: wooded and rugged and reclaimed lands. In the past, the state forest was used by logging companies and the Bethlehem Steel Plant for quarrying and coal mining. Visitors can hike to the Wolf Rocks and see a natural bog nearby.

While exploring Skyline Drive Vista, don't miss the County Line Vista.  You'll be rewarded with stunning views from this location as well. If you're in the mood for a little history, explore the SS Grand View Ship Hotel, located about 15 miles south of the park. You can even visit a historic French castle and take in its ruins. You'll be glad you took the time to explore this scenic overlook.

Those who travel by car will likely have a great time on this scenic vista.  Even though it's only one of several in the park, the drive itself is a must. Pack camping supplies if you're planning to hike the trail or camp. During the spring and summer, you can catch the sunrise or sunset at the park's highest point, the Great Falls.
