PHILADELPHIA - Autumn in the City of Brotherly Love is about to get a major dose of Bavarian flair. Brauhaus Schmitz, Philadelphia's premier German restaurant and bierhall, has announced the return of its two flagship fall traditions: the 18th Annual South Street Oktoberfest and the 8th Annual 23rd Street Armory Oktoberfest. Together, the twin celebrations bring authentic Munich traditions, world-class German brews, and live oom-pah music to thousands of revelers across the region.
Over the past 18 years, more than 110,000 people have celebrated the season with Brauhaus Schmitz. Owner Doug Hager notes that the momentum heading into 2026 is stronger than ever.
The festivities kick off outdoors on Saturday, September 26, with an all-day, family- and dog-friendly street festival along the 700 block of South Street. Two weeks later, the party heads indoors on Friday, October 9, and Saturday, October 10, transforming West Center City’s historic 23rd Street Armory into an authentic Munich-style festival tent for three high-energy, 21-and-over sessions.
Between South Street's massive 1,000-seat open-air biergarten and the Armory's 16,000-square-foot fortress of Bavarian blue and white, Philadelphia solidifies its reputation as one of the country's best destinations for genuine Oktoberfest spirit.
