PENNNSYLVANIA - Main Line pastry lovers and coffee enthusiasts have a new reason to celebrate. The Buttery, a beloved community café and bakery known for its exceptional seasonal menus and artisanal breads, is officially opening its doors in Bryn Mawr on Saturday, June 20.
Taking over a spacious spot at 836 W. Lancaster Avenue, the new location promises to deliver the same signature hospitality, scratch-made pastries, and top-tier coffee program that have made its Malvern and Ardmore outposts local staples.
Grand Opening Giveaways and an Exclusive Pastry
To kick off its Bryn Mawr debut, The Buttery is offering some sweet incentives for early birds throughout the opening weekend (Saturday and Sunday).
-
The First 50 Customers: Will receive a custom-branded Buttery tote bag.
-
The First 100 Customers: Will be gifted the bakery's signature sea salt sable cookie.
The bakery team—operating out of their state-of-the-art Bakehouse in Norristown—has also crafted a highly exclusive pastry available only during the Bryn Mawr opening weekend. Guests can try the Lemon Poppy Kouign Amann, which features a creamy house-made poppy seed spread and lemon sugar folded into flaky croissant dough, finished with a bright lemon glaze and candied lemon.
The Menu: From Harissa Breakfast Sandwiches to Al Taglio Pizza
The Bryn Mawr location will mirror the flagship Malvern menu, grounding its offerings in a commitment to seasonal cooking and local farm sourcing. The service style is designed to be approachable yet elevated: guests order at the counter and then settle in while their meal is delivered directly to their table.
Menu highlights include:
-
Breakfast: House-made bagels, Turkish eggs, a harissa bacon egg and cheese sandwich, and avocado toast.
-
Lunch: A rotating selection of sandwiches on house-baked sourdough, seasonal salads, hearty grain bowls, tartines, and al taglio pizza.
-
The Bakery & Coffee Case: A full lineup of Buttery classics including croissants, scones, muffins, tarts, and fresh sourdough loaves. The espresso and coffee program will proudly feature Passenger Coffee.
The Space and Future Plans
The new 82-seat café is designed to be a comfortable neighborhood gathering space.
"At The Buttery, everything we do is rooted in creating spaces where people can gather, connect and feel at home,” said John Rhoads, Co-Owner. “We’re excited to bring that same sense of community to Bryn Mawr and to continue growing in neighborhoods that value thoughtful food and meaningful experiences.”
The café will operate daily from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. While the kitchen wraps up lunch service at 3:00 p.m., the café will continue serving pastries, sourdough loaves, coffee, tea, and grab-and-go pantry staples until closing. For those driving, there is a rear-facing parking lot directly behind the café, alongside available off-street parking.
While the Bryn Mawr location will initially focus on daytime service, the team plans to debut a liquor license and dinner service in the months following the grand opening.
This Main Line expansion is just the beginning of a busy year for The Buttery. The brand is already planning another new location in Philadelphia's Northern Liberties neighborhood later in 2026, with even more growth slated for 2027.
