WASHINGTON, Pa. — A long-standing staple of the Washington dining scene has officially served its final meal. The Outback Steakhouse located on Washington Road in Washington, Pennsylvania, has permanently closed its doors.
A company spokesperson confirmed to Pittsburgh's Action News 4 that the restaurant ended operations on June 22, 2026. The closure marks the end of a 20-year run for the location. According to the company, the decision to close stems from the expiration of the property's lease.
While the loss of a neighborhood dining spot is always impactful, the company noted that it is working to support its staff during the transition. A spokesperson indicated that some team members will have the opportunity to transfer to other nearby locations, and employees affected by the closure will receive a transition bonus.
"We appreciate the community’s support over the past 20 years and look forward to serving you at our St. Clairsville (Ohio) or Coraopolis (PA) restaurants," the company said in a statement.
For loyal patrons in the area, the closure shifts the closest options for the chain to the Coraopolis location in Pennsylvania or across the border in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
