Pottstown Brick Oven Pizza
Pottstown Pennsylvania is more like a small city, with a downtown main drag and an open area near the train station. Who knew? The little metropolis of Pottstown.
After posting my day of Trappe cheesesteaks with Amigo Dan, I learned about Mike's Brick Oven Pizza.
Mike's has three cheesesteak sizes, with the largest being an 18" steak and only 13 dollars on Sundays.
Of course, I am here on full price Thursday, and It's 10 am, in the sleepy little city of Pottstown. Luckily Mike's Brick Oven Pizza opens at 10 am.
They were busy with their opening routine, I stood at the counter reading over the menu. One employee passed me as they arrived for work, and I could hear people talking in 'the back.' Someone answered the phone in 'the back' so I called my order in.
I found it very amusing that I could hear the woman taking my order on the phone and in my other ear from 'the back.'
Mike's Pizza's Cheesesteak Review
I ordered the garlic bread roll cheesesteak, and when I unwrapped it, it looked a little thin. The roll was though was perfect for making garlic bread, but for cheesesteaks, not enough bread and crusty.
The meat was good but could have added a little more, and I'm not sure what was going on with the cheese.
It did have the right amount of mushrooms and fried onions, but they could have spent some more time on the grill together.
Something burnt the roof of my mouth. I don't know if that was the butter from garlic bread or the oil dripping out of the cheesesteak.
This cheesesteak was really close to being really good. Maybe being the first thing in the morning at something to do it.
