The Cock and BullBucks County, Pa - On a beautiful day with intermittent sun showers, we sauntered through the quaint Peddlers Village. Its tiny brick walkways steer you towards shops with eye-catching window decor that invite you to gaze at interesting trinkets and luxury gifts. Around the corner stands a beautiful stone building with paned windows and people gathering for a comfortable sit-down meal colonial setting. It looks like this is where we want to be. also see The Philadelphia Caller's Where To Eat at Peddlers Villlage

Peddler Villages Flag Ship Restaurant The Cock and Bull

So we stroll our way into the Cock and Bull Restaurant and await our dining adventure. Appetizers abound, and although we only tried a few, they were scrumptious.

Fried Chicken

A cast iron oval gratin presented this immensely tender boneless chicken that rules the roost. Served over the top the sweetest cornbread with a rich maple syrup base, this dish may be all you need for a light snack to keep your walking legs strong for the shopping ahead.

Shrimp and Grits

A southern feel in a northern climate. This rich-bodied, mildly spiced dish was excellent for our northern palettes. Grits — which can often be overcooked into a mushy consistency - still maintained their delicate texture.

How about some entrees? Short Rib Burgundy

Nestle in with a toasty Thomas Kinkade-esque lil'bread bowl that holds tender, succulent cubes of short rib in a savory gravy. The warm sourdough I tore off my "bowl" was a nice compliment to the dish's richness. Hearty and satisfying.

Voodoo Noodles

Perfectly cooked scallops with an andouille sausage that warms the tongue in two ways. The heat (temperature) and the "heat" of the peppers and garlic in this dish (so tasty!), and I'm pretty sure there is no "Voodoo" to fear….. well?? No guarantees.

Finishing with a dessert that looks as delicious as it tastes: The Jam Jar

Strawberry jam drizzled was through cubes of shortcake visible in a mason jar, and it seemingly called you to indulge. This decadent American summertime dessert is too sweet not to share.

So if you find your way to Peddlers Village and need to rest your weary legs, walk right in and let the friendly staff at the Cock and Bull take care of you as you watch the shoppers outside bustle about. Then, eat up because you know you have more shopping to do.
