NEW JERSEY - Over 130 years ago, the global music industry changed forever in the heart of Camden, New Jersey, when Victor Musical Industries revolutionized how we experience sound by inventing the disc record and the turntable. Today, that legendary local history is getting a massive, permanent home in Camden County.
Today, Monday, October 26, 2026, local dignitaries and music lovers are gathering for a major ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the highly anticipated Victor SoundWorks Campus in Berlin, New Jersey.
A Massive Musical Expansion
Located at 150-160 South White Horse Pike in Berlin, the new campus is a massive expansion for Victor Music Industries. Prior to this week, the organization operated out of a single building with a small studio and performance space. After acquiring the adjacent building and land, they have successfully renovated and merged the properties into one expansive, unified campus.
The brand-new South Jersey destination now features:
- The Victrola® Theatre: A dedicated live music and performance space.
- His Master's Voice Museum & Archive: A vast, curated collection of museum-quality music history and memorabilia.
- The Victor Studios: State-of-the-art recording spaces for active artists.
- Little Nipper Cafe: A welcoming spot for visitors to grab a bite while exploring the grounds.
Historic Artifacts on Public Display
The crown jewel of the new campus is the His Master's Voice Museum, which honors one of the most recognizable logos in global history: Nipper the Dog peering into a Victrola phonograph.
For the first time since 1969, the public will be able to view a massive, original 15-foot stained glass window salvaged from the iconic Victor clock tower in Downtown Camden. Only two of these stunning original glass pieces remain in existence—one is currently housed in the Smithsonian Institution, and the other is now permanently protected and displayed here in Berlin.
The museum also pays deep respect to Nipper the Dog, featuring a prominent outdoor statue. Remarkably, the actual remains of the famous terrier from the late 1800s have been relocated to the site, offering a unique tribute to the world's most famous canine mascot.
The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
The official grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony kicks off today at 2:30 p.m. in the campus courtyard. The event will feature a lineup of prominent local leaders celebrating the preservation of Camden County's cultural legacy, including:
- New Jersey Congressman Donald Norcross
- Camden City Mayor Victor Carstarphen
- Berlin Mayor Rick Miller
- Berlin Councilman Keith Hohing
- Camden Special Service District Executive Director Kristine Kennedy
130 Years of Iconic Artists
Founded in 1896, Victor Musical Industries laid the groundwork for modern recorded music. Later joining forces with RCA to become RCA Victor, the label became the home for some of the most famous and influential artists of the 20th century.
Visitors to the new Berlin campus will be walking through the preserved legacy of a label that brought the world recordings from Enrico Caruso, the Philadelphia Orchestra, Duke Ellington, and Glenn Miller. The archives also honor modern titans who recorded under the iconic Nipper logo, including Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Sam Cooke, Nina Simone, Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings, Hall & Oates, and David Bowie.
With complimentary parking located just behind the 160 White Horse Pike building, the new Victor SoundWorks Campus is poised to become a premier destination for history buffs, audiophiles, and live music fans across the Delaware Valley.
